We release a weekly video from our talk event titled Talks on Everyday Imaging vol. 2: The Self-Centred and the Networked held on February 13–14, 2025, at The Photographers' Gallery, London. The third lecture available to watch is Daniel Rubinstein’s one titled Through a filtered glass, darkly: Notes on psycho-photo-analysis. Watch it below!
In his lecture, Daniel Rubinstein explores how psychoanalysis—particularly English psychoanalyst Wilfred Bion's work—provides a compelling framework for understanding the psychological effects of photography and image manipulation, especially in the era of social media.
(This lecture was originally announced in our programming with the title: Raw & Unconfined: From Psychic Fragments to Infinite Photos.)
You can watch all lectures from Talks on Everyday Imaging Vol. 2: The Self-Centred and the Networked on this YouTube playlist. (The recordings of the lectures are published weekly starting March 13, 2025.)
