Eidolon Club vol. 7 – Eidolon Club vol. 7 – I am Martin Parr – Film Screening

April 24, 2025, 6:00 PM, Kino Cinema, Budapest

Last year, we launched a monthly event series where we discuss, present, and showcase various aspects of everyday photography. On April 24, at 6:00 PM, we will screen Lee Shulman’s documentary titled I am Martin Parr at the Kino Cinema in Budapest.

In 2017 when filmmaker Lee Shulman bought a random box of vintage slides he fell completely in love with the people and stories he discovered. Collecting and preserving unique colour slides from the last 70 years turned into “The Anonymous Project”, an artistic endeavour that seeks to give meaning to these once forgotten memories and create new ways of interpretation and story telling that question our place in the world today.

In his directorial debut Lee Shulman follows Parr around some of his favourite haunts in a documentary. Parr’s playful yet poignant approach to capturing everyday moments challenges our perceptions of the ordinary, transforming fleeting snapshots into cultural commentary. Lee Shulman’s film offers a rare glimpse into how his photography elevates the mundane to art. A must-watch for those who appreciate how vernacular photography can illuminate the hidden beauty and narrative of our daily lives.
